SAVE NEW WAVE Concert at Universal Amphitheater.
The "SAVE NEW WAVE" festival was held at Gibson Amphitheater (formerly Universal Amphitheater) June 21, 2008. This show will featured some of the nations top tribute acts. This venue holds 6000 and has seen performances by the music industries top icons such as Sting, Foo Fighters, Gwen Stephani and countless other chart toppers. Imagine seeing a show featuring The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Oingo Boingo and New Order playing all their hits. Well, this is as close to that is you are likely to get, as most of these bands no longer exist.
The line up for the June 21, 08 event included: The Cured (The Cure tribute), Blasphemous Rumours (Depeche Mode tribute), The Sweet and Tender Hooligans (The Smiths tribute), Dead Mans Party (Oingo Boingo tribute) and Love Vigilantes ( New Order tribute). |

Original "The Cure" founding member plays with The Cured.
It is extremely rare for a tribute band have one of the actual members of the artists they are covering to take notice. It is even rarer for an original member to sit-in and play with the tribute.
The Cured has been blessed with just such an event! Original "The Cure" founding member Lawrence "Lol" Tolhurst will be taking over some of the drum and keyboard duties with The Cured at the Save New Wave 80's Festival June 21st at The Gibson Amphitheatre (formerly Universal).
Mr. Tolhurst started The Cure along with Robert Smith and Michael Dempsey and helped shape the iconic bands sound. Lol, co-wrote, played on and stars in the videos for such recognizable hits as The Love Cats, Killing an Arab, Boys Don't Cry, Let's Go to Bed, In Between Days, 10:15 and too many others to mention..
if you'd like to learn more about Lol or would like to say hello to him, check out his Myspace:
