The Cure Tribute Band "The Cured" Makes Switch From Local Band to National Touring Act
May 5 , 2007 Joining the likes of Beatlemania, Super Diamond and Bad fish, the San Diego based The Cure tribute band called "The Cured" is getting national attention and some very lucrative tour offers. New York City booking agent Marcus Linial has assisted in booking their first major US tour starting June 8 and continuing on for 3 weeks. The Cured will be playing several large venues, of which many hold 1000 or more attendees. After making an incredible showing at 4th & B (a House of Blues venue) in San Diego many of the world famous House of Blues clubs are booking the band as well. "Everyone in the band is giving notice at their day jobs" said singer and band manager Zippy Twombly. "This is what we all want to do for the next few years. We want to see the world and get paid for having fun and entertaining people"
Tribute bands have become a phenomenon in recent years but few ever play outside the local dive bars of their hometown. However, The Cured have reached success in a relatively short period of time due to the charisma of the band and the popularity of the original act in which they cover; "The Cure". |

The Cured buys a Shuttle Bus and Converts it for Touring.
May 1, 2007 The band decided to take some of their profits and invest in a tour bus to accommodate them on all the traveling hey will be doing over the next year. "This one is kind of small but it will work for now" said Sol Turpin, bass player for The Cured. We have plenty of storage room, a large bed to sleep on during the 8-12 hour drives. We also put in a few couches for lounging and ran a complete AC power system and have installed a TV, DVD/MP3 system as well as power outlets for computers, video cames, guitar amps, cell phones, blow dryers, blenders and whatever else we can think of. We would have liked to have gotten something a little bigger, but gas being the price it is we decided to wait until next year before we can go big like The Partridge Family...lol! |

80's New Wave Rave @ 4th&B SELLS OUT!
April 1 , 2007 " The first 80's New Wave Rave was a success beyond our wildest dreams" said show promoter and The Cured singer Michael "Zippy" Twombly. We had 1637 people through the door at the House of Blues sponsored event on Saturday March 31.
The line to get in was completely around the block and all the way back to the 2nd block and almost reaching Broadway Street in Downtown San Diego.
So many people attended that the venue ran out of beer towards the end of the evening. This was our first show of the 80's New Wave Rave events and we hope this is an indicator of how great the rest of the shows will be. This was one of the greatest experiences of my life said Zippy. Our entire band was dancing around like Charlie Brown characters at the end of the show.

Now that we've established the marketability of the New Wave Rave concept, club owners all over the USA are contacting me and our agents to book the event in their town. To make sure it's an event to remember we are only accepting club offers that can hold 1000 people or more.
We are currently scheduled to take the event to the East Coast starting June 9th at the Canal Room in Manhattan NYC. From there we will be playing various outdoor festivals and large club venues in New York, New Jersey, Philly, Washington DC, Baltimore and other East Coast cities.
We are going to try and work in House of Blues in Chicago either on the way out or back too.
This only shows about 1/3 of the crowd, I wasn't able to get the entire audience in the frame.

The Cured Now Powered by Rockstar Energy Drink.
Jan 15, 2007 ROCKSTAR The world's best energy drink has given an endorsement deal to your favorite Cure tribute band. Along with being supplied vast quantities of every flavor in the ROCKSTAR product line, the esteemed beverage company also sent us tons of hats, t-shirts, wristbands and other items to give out at show to promote the brand. The giant 12 x 5 ft "The Cured" banner that you see behind us at the shows was created and sponsored by ROCKSTAR as well. Actually our deal with them is really sweet , without going into details I'd like to say that ROCKSTAR is a wonderful and generous company with a GREAT product. Every one in the band now drinks ROCKSTAR exclusively! As a matter of fact the thought of doing a show now without the "zing" supplied by ROCKSTAR is completely ridiculous. I don't even drink coffee, but I'll have 2 or 3 ROCKSTARs before and during a show. just so I can keep my energy level up for an hour and a half.
The entire band would like to give a shout out to our friends at ROCKSTAR and we look forward to representing you well over the next few years.....if you read this, SEND MORE OF THE LITTLE CANS!!

After incredible show in El Paso, The Cured to tour major Texas cities.
Feb. 10th , 2007 " There were so many people I couldn't see the back of the crowd" said Chuck lead guitar player of The Cured. Reportedly 1600 people came out to enjoy the 1980's "The Cure" Experience. Club 101 told us they were extremely pleased and are definitely inviting us back soon.
Club owners Joe and Al also told us they are going to set us up with shows in some Texas sized venues in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and a few other major cities as they know all of the big club owners and think we'll do a great show for them as well.
It's surprising how receptive the Texas audiences are and how many Cure fans are out there.
We are looking forward to returning to Texas in either the spring or early summer. Our contacts in Texas, Covert Booking and ourselves will be putting together a tour soon.
If you are in Texas, visit the site often for upcoming dates. We also sent Joe and Al contact info for a few of our friends bands who have incredible shows too. So hopefully you'll be seeing other great tributes to Depeche Mode, No Doubt, The Ramones and U2 coming to Texas as well.

Taking all of Southern California back to 1989. Big crowds in San Diego, O.C. and L.A.
Feb23, 2007 Doing show in all of SoCal has started to become extremely fun for the band. We are getting the opportunity to play some of the biggest and best clubs in San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles. The best part is getting to play for the bigger audiences. The crowd is louder and more energetic, the girls dance more and the energy goes through the roof. We've done 6 shows this year already with an attendance of 600 or more. While we live in San Diego, a majority of our shows are in Orange County and the Los Angles area. We performed for 650 last night at Club Rockit in Azusa on a Thursday night and it was pouring rain outside.
We've been privilege to play such venues as Vertigo, Galaxy Theatre, Belly-up, both Blue Cafes and several others. We've had a great time at every show and look forward to playing other big venues being booked now including O.C. Pavilion, The Vault, 4th & B, HOB, Hardrock Hotel, Slim's ion San Francisco, The Knitting Factory, and all the others that are too many to mention.
Hey Cane's in Mission Beach

Covert Booking has asked The Cured to join their roster.
Feb. 20 , 2007 Covert Booking, known as the booking agency for bands like the Dead Kennedys, Angry Samoans and the Gabba Gabba Heys has officially asked The Cured to join the Covert Booking family.
Landon Gale-George (agent and partner of Covert Booking) immediately started lining up some incredible shows and small tours for us. Landon is currently working on a Hawaii tour , a short Northern California tour as well as getting us into some larger LA and OC venues.
Landon is extremely experienced and is taking care of us exceedingly well. If things continue in the direction he's taking us, the entire band will be able to quit their day jobs and get to play shows full time.
We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Covert Booking.

Sol Turpin of Safety Orange joins The Cured. Morgan Young fills in on drums.
Many of you might have noticed a new face on the bass. That is Sol Turpin of Safety Orange fame.
The timing couldn't have been better. Our former bass player and founding member Tony has formed Still Ill (The Smiths tribute, look for them to be doing a lot of shows with us). Sol who had been learning all our material so he could do road shows stepped-up and not only filled the shoes, he busted out of them. Our sound now has a groove pocket that we never realized previously.
Not only is Sol a GREAT bass player, he's a great showman.
Sol puts a great deal of attention into his performance as well as his costume and equipment. He's been a noticeable asset to our show and we look forward to traveling the world with him.
In a related story, the Spinal Tap-ish saga of our never ending quest for a permanent long-term drummer continues.
Mike Rawluk, our current drummer has a few previous commitments as he also brings the beat to a signed "metal" band and will be touring soon. Which is unfortunate for us as we are really starting to groove well with Mike.
So longtime friend and mayor of the San Diego music scene Morgan Young agreed to fill-in on a few select shows. Morgan's original band and club owners where he DJs need not worry. We are just going to borrow him and promise to return him in the same condition we found him in.
If you would like to be a fill-in drummer in The Cured, drop us a line....lol
